About the Experience

If you want to make pottery a part of your life, this course will turn you into an expert and take you to the advanced level of pottery. Have you completed the beginner’s course or already know the basics of pottery and wanna go ahead with the advanced level? Then this course will help you achieve the next level of throwing, glazing and tile making.

Basic knowledge of wedging, centering and pulling is required to join advance course.
There are three modules in advance course. (Advance Throwing, Advance Glazing &Advance Hand Building)
You can choose any module, as per your liking to learn in advance course.
Each module is organized specifically to provide you with an in depth understanding of pottery.
Different lessons are included in each module with a different set of prices.

Advance Throwing

Number of sessions: 10
Fees: INR 17,000

Learn how to center 1.5kg to 2.5kg clay and the throwing techniques in order to throw tall cylindrical shaped vases, bigger bowls and plates.
Explore the various complex shapes like tall jug, teapot or donut pot.
Discover different types of lids designed for specific types of jars.
Learn how to attach a foot and handle to your own designed and created pieces.
Finally, take away 4 to 5 unique pieces created during the course.

Advance Glazing

Number of sessions: 12
Fees: INR 21,000

Understand the various types of glazes and their chemical components.
Discover the foundation and making of different types of glaze and glazing style.
Create your own test tiles for glaze testing.
Learn about the various steps, tricks & tips applied for the glazing process.
Create your 4 to 5 pieces on potters wheel/handbuilding, required for glazing process. (throwing lessons are not included in glaze course)
Once the firing is complete, evaluate and test your designed tile.
Take away, test tiles and 4-5 glazed pieces created during the course.

Advance Hand Building

Number of sessions: 10
Fees: INR 17,000

Discover the various materials used in pottery as well as wedging techniques.
Learn how to make pottery using the slab formation method.
Discover how to make tall pots using hand building techniques such as pinching and coiling techniques.
Learn about tile formation and decoration.
Understand different types of glazing and how they are fired.
Take away glazed and fired 4-5 pieces created during the course.

1. Advanced level pottery course, how does it work?

We have 3 modules at an advanced level, you can choose any module you like to learn. Each module has different sessions and fees.

2. What is the prerequisite to join an advanced pottery course?

To join an advanced throwing course, you should know pottery basics (wedging, cantering, and pulling), For an advanced glazing course, you should know how to make pots on a potter’s wheel or by hand-building technique.

3. How are classes scheduled?

For local students: Classes are held twice a week. You’re free to choose the timing that suits you best from our available session slots.

For outstation students: We conduct the sessions continuously for 9 days (Sundays are off), Please plan your travel and let us know accordingly.

4. What is included in the course fees?

The course fee will cover all necessary supplies (clay, tools, apron) as well as the fire and glazing of 4-5 of your original artworks.

5. Course fees need to be made in advance or part payment is allowed?

Full course fees need to be paid at the beginning of the course. Course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable

6. I am an absolute beginner; will I be able to join an advanced course?

For the advanced-level pottery course, we assume that you know pottery basics and looking to upgrade your knowledge. If you feel you are a total novice, please join our beginner pottery course.

7. Can I cover up for a session I miss?

Yes, you can make up for the missed sessions. The course fee is valid for 3 months, from the day it was booked.

8. If I am unable to complete the course, can I get the fees back?

Course fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. You have to complete the course within 3 months of enrolment.

9. Can I mix sessions from different batches?

We prefer not to as it could be chaotic, as different batches might be running at different paces.

10. How many students are taken in a batch?

The pottery course happens on a one-on-one basis.

11. How many glaze pieces we can make?

4-5 glaze pieces can be made during the course.

12. If I like to make more pieces other than what comes with the course?

Yes, you can, firing is charged at Rs.500 per piece.

13. Can I practice after class?

Each class duration is 1.5 to 2 hrs. and instructors are available during the class timings. However, if you like to practice you can spend more hours in the studio depending on the availability of the potter’s wheel, or can join our Studio Practice Hours. Instructors are not available during the practice hours.

14. I am coming from outstation, and have planned to stay in Jaipur city for 8-10 days. Can I join in for the course?

For outstation students, we conduct the sessions continuously for 10 days (Sundays are off), Please plan your travel and let us know accordingly.

15. How and when can I get my objects created during the course if I have to travel immediately after completing my wheel pottery course?

For outstation students, pots will be couriered to you after they are glaze-fired (an extra charge will be applied for the courier facility, however, we are not responsible for breakage that happens in transit). For locals: Objects created are left behind at the studio for firing. This takes about 3 weeks, post which you may come and collect the fired pieces from the studio.
